Up until fairly recently, I had been using Logic on my iBook to make music. In the last six months I switched over to Windows and have been using Ableton Live almost exclusively. The work-flow is entirely different but it makes all those processes in Logic, that were protracted missions to Mars, much simpler to use. Here’s a track that I’ve been working on over the past few days. Please forgive the mix, have only been able to listen on headphones.

The prodigious and super-talented VBLANK has ported the Arduinome software to the Bliptronic 5000. This could potentially offer an incredibly cost-effective alternative to the monome. Need to get my hands on one and do some hacking. More info here.

The park was acquired in 1857 and was designed by the world renowned Sir Joseph Paxton, also responsible for noted public parks in London, Liverpool, Birkenhead and the grounds of the Spa Buildings at Scarborough. The park was dedicated to the memory of Mary, Queen of Scots and not Queen Victoria, a common misconception given the proximity to Victoria Road and that the park was created during her reign.

My arduinome nears completion…

About a year ago, I stumbled upon the Arduinome project. Back then I felt though it’d be a great build — more cost-effective than a monome and more rewarding. Having said that, I was absolutely petrified about embarking on the soldering epic of the button pads. After a few other kits and bits and pieces (SID2SID, C64 mods etc) I felt ready.

It isn’t hugely difficult but it is time-consuming. I would suggest soldering other kits before doing this. Looking back on my old soldering jobs, I’m glad I took the time to perfect my technique. The tutorial I used can be found here.  On to acquiring an enclosure now!
